AAA Boys Moves to Langley PDF Print E-mail

The BC High School Boys' Basketball Association announced last Friday that they are moving the AAA Championship Tournament to the Langley Event Centre in 2011.

"We will have a lot more flexibility" said John Buis (Tournament Director), "In addition to the arena which will seat close to 6,500 fans, we have access to three additional basketball courts, a modern audio-visual system and a 500 seat banquet facility."

The move means that there will be two solid weeks of high school boys basketball championship action at the Event Centre with the A Boys Tournament running from March 9-13 followed by the AAA Boys from March 15 - 19, 2011.

From the officials' standpoint the move means a tremendous upgrade in facilities - changing rooms, meeting rooms etc., and best of all FREE PARKING!

The Langley Event Centre plays host to several high profile organizations and events - the BC Titans (IBL), Trinity Western University (CIS), the Langley Chiefs (BCHL), Basketball BC's regional and provincial training centre, among many others.

"From the officials' perspective this is a great move" said Tim Heide, President of the BCBOA, "It represents a tremendous upgrade in facilities for our working officials and evaluators.  It's going to be a lot more comfortable for pre-game and post-game conferences and for many officials it means a lot less traveling time and eliminates the always contentious issue of parking."

All in all, a great move!
